STUDENT ASSISTANT ENGINEER

  • Assisted staff engineer in completing projects, such as student projects, visiting artist projects, and global jazz projects

  • Learned the pre-recording preparation procedures, set up live recording studios and control rooms, and operated Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) software like Pro Tools according to project requirements

  • Acquired basic knowledge of large-scale digital and analog mixing consoles and gained practical experience in acoustic ensemble recording and sound reinforcement

Engineer

  • Managed the patchbay to ensure smooth transmission of audio signals to Pro Tools, the console, and the headphone systems of musicians and audience

  • Responsible for microphone placement and setup to optimize sound quality 

  • Troubleshooted any audio issues that may arise during recording   

  • Took charge of time management to ensure the entire recording process was completed on schedule     

Producer   

  • Contacted musicians to confirm recording and rehearsal times, arranged weekly rehearsal schedules

  • Participated in song production and wrote sheet music for musicians

  • Communicated with the engineer on song details before recording, including microphone selection, musician positioning, tone selection, and recording schedule

  • Assisted in adjusting tones and provided feedback and suggestions to help the musicians optimize their performances
